The coconut trees are plants that often grows in Indonesia. Especially in the coast-areas. The parts of its plants has many uses, such as its roots, stems, leaves, leaf bones, and fruits. But there is one part of the coconut tree which use is forgotten or is not yet used. When its use is further developed, it will have a very high economic value. That part is its shell. In this research, this coconut shell can be made into coconut shell coal. Which can further be made into active coal further used as adsorbent. Making coconut shell coal activation is done by adding acid solution, followed by drying for 24 hours in an oven with a temperature of 100oC. The aim of this research is to compare which acid solution is the best to make coconut shell coal activation. In this research, variable of normality changing of acid solution is H2SO4 ; HCl ; H3PO4 each 0,5 N ; 1 N ; 1,5 N ; 2 N ; 2,5 N ; 3 N. From this research, we can draw the conclution that HCl solution is the best activator solution for coconut shell coal activation.
